红顶鸻（拉丁学名：Charadrius ruficapillus 英文名：Red-capped Dotterel, Red-capped Plover）:
红顶鸻属中小型涉禽，体长约240毫米；嘴形细狭，尖端具隆起；鼻孔直裂，有鼻沟；跗骨后侧具网状鳞，前缘亦常具网状鳞；趾不具瓣蹼；中爪不具栉缘；羽毛为灰褐色，常随季节和年龄而变化。分布于澳大利亚，印尼，东帝汶；旅鸟：新西兰，蒙古；中国。

Adult females have a paler rufous and grey-brown crown and hindneck, with a pale loreal stripe. The upperwing of Charadrius ruficapillus shows dark brown remiges (flight feathers) and primary covert feathers with a white wingbar in flight. Its length is 14–16 cm and its wingspan is 27–34 cm; and weighs 35–40 g.由此可见鸟的长度为14-16厘米。
